Tapping a tube: Red

How to use the water sort solver

  1. Set the tubes. Choose how many tubes your level has (empty ones included) and how many layers fit in one tube. Most games use 4.
  2. Copy each tube from the bottom up. Pick a color, then tap a tube once for every layer of that color. The bottom layer goes in first. Use Remove top layer or Undo to fix a mistake.
  3. Check the counter. Each color must appear exactly as many times as a tube can hold. The solver tells you which colors are short or over, so typos are easy to find.
  4. Tap Solve and follow the steps. Each step says which tube to pour into which. The tube numbers match the numbers under your tubes, so count your game's tubes left to right the same way.

How the solver works

Every water sort, liquid sort and color sort puzzle follows one rule: you may pour the top color of a tube onto the same color, or into an empty tube, as long as there is room. The solver tries moves in a smart order, skips positions it has already seen, and stops as soon as every tube holds one color. It then looks for shortcuts: if the path comes back to a position it already visited, or two moves can be replaced by one, the detour is cut. Before you see anything, the full move list is replayed to make sure every step is legal.

The search runs in the background on your own device, so the page never freezes, even on big puzzles with 20 tubes. Nothing is uploaded.

Tips for entering a puzzle quickly

  • Work tube by tube, left to right. Finishing one tube before the next makes it easy to compare with your screen.
  • The colors here do not need to match your game's colors exactly. Just use one color here for each color there.
  • Half-solved level? Enter the position as it is now; the solver continues from there.
  • Your puzzle is saved in this browser, so you can switch to your game and come back without losing work.

FAQ

Does the solver work for ball sort puzzles?

Yes. Water sort, liquid sort, color sort and ball sort puzzles follow the same rule: you may only move onto the same color or into an empty tube. In ball sort games that move one ball at a time, repeat a step as many times as its ×2 or ×3 label says.

Why does it say a color is short or over?

In these puzzles every color appears exactly as many times as a tube can hold. If a color is short or over, one of the tubes was entered with a wrong color. Compare each tube with your game, from the bottom up.

Is the solution the shortest possible?

Usually it is very close. The solver searches for a solution, then removes detours and wasted moves. It always checks the final list by replaying it, so every step is a legal move that ends with every tube sorted.

What if my level has hidden or question-mark layers?

The solver needs to know every color. Play until the hidden layers are revealed, or enter your best guess: the color counter shows which colors are still missing, which often tells you what the hidden layers must be.

The solver says there is no solution. What now?

First check the tubes for typos. If everything matches, the position may really be stuck. Many games let you add an extra empty tube; add one here too and solve again.

Is the solver free? Does it upload my puzzle?

It is completely free. The search runs on your own device, in your browser. Your puzzle is saved only in your browser so a reload does not lose it.
